Young Bakers Rise to the Challenge for Charity

During a recent family meal, the White family discussed the important work of the Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust—a Sheffield-based charity dedicated to providing palliative care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses in Palestine. Remarkably, it is the only palliative care service available in the region.

Inspired by the conversation, daughters Constance (aged 9) and Patience (aged 8) were moved to take action. Constance, an enthusiastic young baker, decided to organise a bake sale to help the sick.

The following days were filled with excitement and activity as the girls took over the kitchen, transforming it into a hub of sweet-smelling creativity. With Mum and Dad temporarily banned from the kitchen, Constance and Patience worked diligently to prepare an impressive array of cakes and confections—each one lovingly made and beautifully presented.

The bake sale was held in the Mother of God Parish Hall in Sheffield and featured a delightful spread of homemade treats. Thanks to the girls’ hard work and the generosity of those who attended, an incredible £250 was raised to support the hospice’s work in Bethlehem.

This donation will help ensure that patients can spend their final days pain-free, in comfort, and with dignity.

Back at home, Mum and Dad were finally readmitted to the kitchen—this time to do the cleaning up!

The White family action is a good example of a compassionate community at work.
