Building a Sustainable, High-Quality Service

During my recent visit, I spent meaningful time with the hospice team, engaging in thoughtful discussions about how we could further strengthen both the sustainability and the quality of care provided. I was genuinely encouraged by their openness and willingness to explore innovative and more efficient ways of working, all while remaining firmly committed to maintaining the high standards that define their service.

In addition to strategic discussions, we also tackled some of the key operational challenges currently facing the team. This included an honest and constructive look at staffing dynamics and the importance of developing strong, effective leadership within the organization. Recognizing the need to enhance clinical oversight and governance structures, I put forward a proposal to establish a Clinical Sub-Committee under the Bethlehem Board. I was pleased that the proposal was met with enthusiastic approval. This new sub-committee will play a vital role in formalizing accountability, as well as creating a dedicated forum for addressing clinical issues and driving continuous quality improvement.
